Welcome
aboard the boat at around 09.30 hrs for a Champagne
reception, and a tour of the boat. After a safety
briefing, we will untie and leave our berth in Ocean
village and set off down the River Itchen towards
Southampton Water.
At
the junction of the Itchen and Southampton Water is
the berth for the new Queen
Mary 2 and the QE2. If we are lucky, and
they are here, we can make a point of sailing really
close past them for a really awe inspiring sight.
(make sure you have your cameras ready).
After
viewing these magnificent ships, we will head all
the way down Southampton Water and out into the Solent,
setting a course for the famous Needles
Lighthouse, which is perched at the end
of a row of white rocks, at the far western side of
the Isle of Wight. Our voyage will take us past Cowes
and Yarmouth, on the island, and the New Forest as
it meets the sea on the mainland.
